Main Content: Make a donation

Only the Resource Centre provides information on the human rights & environmental impacts of over 4000 companies.  As the private sector expands its reach and influence around the world, this information is more important than ever.  As a non-profit charity, we depend on donations from individuals & foundations.

"The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre…is a small, smart organization…The mechanisms it uses are simple, straightforward and powerful.” Michael Conroy in his recent book "Branded!" (former Program Officer at Rockefeller Brothers Fund and Ford Foundation Mexico)

Why support us?

Your donation will help us to:

  • encourage companies worldwide to respect human rights, avoid harm to people, maximise their positive contribution
  • increase transparency & accountability, highlighting under-reported cases in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Middle East
  • keep this website free for everyone

Here are 5 practical reasons to support the Resource Centre:

1. Protect human rights

The Resource Centre provides increased public accountability when companies commit abuses – and increased recognition when they take positive steps.  Each week we invite companies to respond to concerns raised by civil society.

2. Increase the impact of other organisations

You won’t just be supporting us.  Every day we draw international attention to news & reports by local human rights, environmental & development organisations across the world, helping increase their impact.

3. Help keep the focus on facts & victims of abuses

Business & human rights is climbing the international agenda.  There is a need for an organisation that works exclusively on business & human rights, has a balanced approach, and above all, keeps the focus on what is happening on the ground.

4. Donations from individuals are important to us

To avoid any perception of conflict of interest, we are unable to accept donations from companies, corporate foundations, or senior executives at major corporations.  For this reason donations from individuals, and from independent foundations & trusts, are a critical source of funding.  No donation is too small - we have received donations ranging from US$10 to US$50,000.

5. Know your contribution is making a difference

The Resource Centre is a small, focused and cost-effective organisation, so you can be sure that your donation will be directly contributing to our core work: encouraging encouraging companies to respect human rights in their operations.  Our finances are supervised by Melvin Coleman, UK Finance Director of Amnesty International and a trustee of the Resource Centre.

"There's no question that www.business-humanrights.org is the go-to place for information on these issues. But the Resource Centre is so much more than a web portal: it provides a high-impact dissemination channel for civil society groups around the world, an excellent news source, and an important forum for dialogue because it solicits responses from companies.”  Lisa Misol, Human Rights Watch
