The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Aliou Diouf as its first Francophone Africa Researcher & Representative, based in Dakar. He will begin work in April, drawing attention to the human rights impacts (positive & negative) of companies in the region; highlighting under-reported cases and concerns raised by civil society; seeking company responses to alleged abuses; and building contacts with NGOs, companies, journalists and government representatives.
The establishment of our Francophone Africa post was made possible by a grant from the Open Society Institute. Over 130 candidates applied for the position and seven were interviewed; the applicants were of a very high calibre.

About our regional researchers
Aliou is our fifth part-time regional researcher, joining:
- Roddy Shaw Kwok-wah, East Asia Researcher, based in Hong Kong
- Abiola Okpechi, Anglophone Africa Researcher, based in South Africa
- Ella Skybenko, Eastern Europe/Central Asia Researcher, based in Ukraine
- Surabhi Chopra, South Asia Researcher, based in India
Our international network of researchers makes the conduct of companies more transparent, promotes accountability and positive change, and prevents harm to people. Each of our regional researchers works from home or a host institution, which keeps expenses to a minimum.
We are now seeking funds to establish regional researchers in Latin America and the Middle East.
