Message from UN Special Representative Ruggie: "As part of the mandate’s examination of the inter-relationship between the corporate responsibility to respect human rights and the need for improved access to remedy, an international expert roundtable was convened on 12 June on behalf of the SRSG [Special Representative of the UN Secretary General] to take forward research into the impact of corporate culture on the ability of companies to manage human rights disputes effectively.  The meeting focused on the mining sector.  Further field research is planned for 2010 building on this work."
