The plaintiffs disputed the decisions of the akim of the city of Uralsk on the provision of land plots between 2020 and 2021 to the social and entrepreneurial corporation Aqjaiyq, which in its turn made an agreement with the private company 'PSP Serik' for the construction of a recreation center.

The center opened last year. According to the project presented to the akimat, the company suggested construction works on an area of about one and a half hectares along the Chagan River with fishing spots and a farm for breeding carp and sturgeon. The company promised to implement bank protection works. According to residents, the local entrepreneur who received land plots, changed the course of the river, closed access to it for residents and cut down part of the trees...

In the Supreme Court, the residents and their lawyer managed to prove that the land was provided to the entrepreneur illegally. According to the decision of the court, the plots allocated for construction on the banks of the Chagan river must be returned to the akimat...
