Public Affairs Consultant of the Seasonal Worker Scheme Taskforce

The Public Affairs Consultant will support the Taskforce in strengthening its engagement with government bodies to drive continuous improvements in the scheme, ensuring the rights of every seasonal worker are safeguarded and risks of exploitation are mitigated.

We are seeking a UK-based consultant with the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Proven experience in public affairs work for similar programmes and within comparable contexts – preferably with existing relationships with relevant Ministers and Officials e.g in Defra, Home Office, GLAA, DLME.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess policy implications and stakeholder impacts effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to network, build relationships, and collaborate with representatives from government, businesses, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality policy briefs, reports, and proposals.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the UK horticultural sector, the Seasonal Worker Scheme, and other UK immigration routes.
  • Knowledge of responsible recruitment practices and ethical employment models.
  • Capacity to work with sensitivity, flexibility, and tactfully in complex professional environments.
  • Experience in chairing meetings and events with a diverse range of stakeholders, ensuring inclusive and effective discussions.
  • Strong planning and organisational abilities, with the capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Fluency in English.
