Mexico: New Tesla plant in Nuevo León could negatively impact access to water and labour rights, warn experts and defenders

In early March, Mexican President López Obrador announced an agreement with Tesla, made in the framework of the USMCA agreement, to build the world's largest electric vehicle plant in the state of Nuevo León.

Environmental experts and labour rights advocates raise concerns about the plant's power generation methodology, as well as its potential negative impacts related to access to water in the state, pollution, road issues and labour rights, and call on the company to provide more information about the project.

We invited Tesla to comment on the concerns raised, but the company did not respond.
