Activists raise concerns about Meta’s alleged role in facilitating crimes against Yazidis & say content moderation policies show “double standard”; co. did not respond

In January 2022, Yazidi activists and allies released a report about the alleged role of social media companies in facilitating crimes by Islamic State against Yazidis and others, calling for an international investigation.

Meta has also been criticized by digital rights activists for an alleged “double standard” in its content moderation policies between its approach to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and other conflicts.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Meta to respond to these allegations; it did not respond.
