Armenia: Activists opposing Amulsar gold mine over health concerns urge govt. to speed up mine inspections

"Amulsar came to Yerevan", 7 September 2018

Environmentalists and residents of the enlarged Jermuk community, as well as Sevan community carried out an action in front of Armenia’s Government building with a slogan “Amulsar is Coming to Yerevan.”  According to the participants of the action, they support the position of the government to inspect and conduct new assessments related to the permits given to mining companies, and specifically Lydian Armenia, the company intending to exploit Amulsar Gold Mine. Their request to the government is to speed up the inspections.
