Bosnia and Herzegovina: Construction of three hydroelectric power plants allegedly causes rockfalls, threatens local river and road; incl. cos. non-responses

The construction of three hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) on the Bistrica River by the Chinese company Aero-Technology Corporation for International Engineering has sparked controversy. The terrain excavation required for the project has allegedly caused rockfalls. In addition, environmental activists warn that the construction may have a negative impact on the Bistrica River ecosystem.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine and Aero-Technology Corporation for International Engineering to respond. Neither of the companies responded.
