Bunge's response on alleged involvement with soy farmers linked to land conflicts and human rights abuses

...Bunge has no commercial relationship with NPK Transoperadora, Lavobrás Comércio e Representações, or Agropecuária Sementes Talismã in Bahia State.

Bunge was unaware of the facts described in your correspondence. What we have identified is that the public proceeding no. 8000574-63.2017.8.05.0069, mentioned in your letter, refers to a lawsuit filed by a group of farmers seeking legal protection for property against invasion by third parties. Furthermore, in this lawsuit an injunction was granted to the owners to protect their property because there is evidence documented during judicial inspections attesting to the invasion of the property and criminal acts committed by third parties...

The company condemns the practice of any acts of violence, illegal activities, and violations of anyone’s protected rights...

The company further underscores that it does not do business with anyone on the public list drawn up by the Ministry of Labor and Employment of employers who have subjected workers to conditions analogous to slavery...

Bunge reaffirms its commitments to its social and environmental policies and reiterates that it does not purchase soybeans from areas overlapping with the traditional communities mentioned in the letter, nor does it engage in illegal practices or those that violate human rights...
