Colombia: Several protesters killed and others detained illegally in violent clashes with police during demonstrations over tax reform

Protests started when the Colombian Government presented a draft bill to tax basic goods and funerary services in a country badly hit by the pandemic, with low rates of vaccinations. The Ministry of Economy resigned, and the government has threatened to militarise the main cities and submit a new proposal that would also reform already deteriorated and insufficient health services.
