Fuji Oil response to allegation against its buyer Meiji's violation of Tokyo Olympics palm oil procurement code

The content of RAN complaints is not included in the report of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, and we cannot confirm whether or not grievance has been received. However, the Fuji Oil Group formulated the Responsible Palm Oil Procurement Policy in 2016, aiming to build a sustainable supply chain, and is promoting activities in accordance with this policy.
Under this policy, we are committed to "Zero Deforestation, Zero Peat Development and Zero Exploitation (No Deforestation, No Peat land development, No Exploitati​on: NDPE)".​ To achieve this goal, we are working with stakeholders to formulate KPI and action plans aimed at achieving our policy.

Specific Initiatives
・Ensuring Supply Chain Traceability
(2020 Fiscal year: 100% of Traceability to Mill (TTM), 71% of Traceability to Plantations (TTP)).
・Establishment of the Global Sustainable Procurement Committee (2020)
・Announcement of the Supplier Code of Conduct, the Group's Comprehensive Policy, in 2021
・Introduction of the Grievance Mechanism, a mechanism for improving the environment and human rights issues in the supply chain
(Started in 2018, expanded coverage and partially revised procedures for strengthening response in 2020)
・Verification of the state of deforestation by monitoring satellite photographs (commenced in 2020, and the results of the survey were reflected in the grievance list)
・Participation in APT Landscape Initiative in Aceh, Indonesia
(Participated since 2018. Multi-stakeholders such as local governments, NGOs, corporations, and plantations work together to address issues such as deforestation, exploitation, protection of agricultural areas, and poverty.
・Introduction of programs on improving work environment (improvement of suppliers' work practices and capacity building)

The progress of these activities is published semiannually through the Responsible Palm Oil Procurement Policy Progress Report (in Japanese and English) and the annual Sustainability Report (in Japanese, English and Chinese). We will continue to enhance information disclosure in order to further fulfill our transparency and accountability. In addition, we will continue to make Group-wide efforts to build a sustainable palm oil supply chain with the cooperation of our stakeholders.
