On 22 July 2019, Hugo Clément and 3 other French journalists in his film crew were arrested while filming a protest against Adani’s operations in Queensland, Australia, which was blocking the entrance to Adani's Abbot Point coal-loading facility. Clément worked for the French national broadcaster France2. One lawyer criticised police for not first attempting to move the journalists before arresting them, or issuing a “move on” direction instead. Further, strict bail conditions were imposed preventing the journalists going close to Adani’s mine (within 20km) or other sites (100m), and they were charged with trespassing. Those charges were dropped shortly thereafter.
