India: 30 children working as bonded labourers were rescued in Delhi

[...] 30 children in the age group of 13-17 years who were working as bonded labourers in hosiery, steel polishing and toy manufacturing units in Wazirpur Industrial Area in northwest Delhi and rescued on Monday. [...]

The rescued children included four girls. According to the children, they were made to work for up to 15 hours a day at paltry daily wages of Rs 150 to Rs 250. "Children were made to work in inhospitable condition in dingy rooms that did not have outlets for air or light. They had to buy food out of their own pockets. Half of them were trafficked from remote areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar," said an NGO official.
