Owing to acute levels of pollution in Sutlej, people in Punjab’s Malwa region and the neighbouring state of Rajasthan were forced to drink contaminated water which resulted in diseases such as cancer, hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis, skin disorders and eye ailments among others.
