On 4 September 2024, Jurica Gašpar, a journalist and editor-in-chief of the Morski.hr portal specialising in maritime reporting, received death threats that included a potential kidnapping. This came after a meeting in which the Croatian Association of Private Shippers negotiated an arrangement with the Public Relations agency of Ankica Mamić. Jurica has been reporting on alleged violations of maritime regulations. The death threats and intimidation were received through WhatsApp and Facebook.
