On 23 May 2018, human rights defender and union member Luis Domínguez Blandón was murdered in Colombia. Luis worked for Nestlé and was involved in a dispute with the company at the time of the murder along with other members of the National Syndicate of the Agri-food Industry. In a statement the union said that it "demands that the transnational Nestle urgently addresses what has happened with its workers and conducts actions with the authorities in both municipalities to immediately halt this wave of violence and killings that in recent days has been perpetrated in a constant manner against workers from the multinational".
