Mexico: Death threats against members of NGO Bios Iguana over their opposition to mine in Zacualpan

[Unofficial translation of Spanish original by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre] Bios Iguana works with the Nahua people, in the indigenous community of Zacualpan, Mexico, against the governmental imposition of a mining concession for the company Gabfer to extract gold in their communal land. For its work defending human rights, Bios Iguana has been a victim of a defamation campaign and several aggressions that had escalated through time. The abuses against the members of Bios Iguana, including their funders Esperanza Salazar and Gabriel Martínez, include death threats, intimidation, physical aggressions and other forms of violence.
