In response to this Court’s request for supplemental briefing in Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum...amici respectfully urge this Court to affirm that the ATS [Alien Tort Statute] permits causes of action for violations of the law of nations occurring within the territory of a sovereign other than the United States, as demonstrated by the text and purpose of the statute, as well as relevant legal history.
