S. Korea: Survey reveals 3 out of 4 freelance broadcasters say they faced workplace bullying last year

“3 in 4 non-regular broadcast workers say they experienced workplace bullying in past year”, 17 April 2025

... A new survey reveals that three out of four non-regular workers in the industry have experienced workplace bullying at least once over the past year.

The organisations Ending Credit, a group representing non-regular broadcast workers, and Gabjil 119, a workplace rights watchdog, released findings on 16 April from an emergency survey conducted between 5 and 14 March. A total of 396 freelance or non-regular workers participated, including weathercasters, directors, writers, camera operators, technicians, designers, post-production staff, announcers, reporters, and actors.

Three in four respondents said they had been subjected to at least one form of workplace bullying in the past year. Specifically, 75% reported experiencing at least one of the following: verbal or physical abuse, humiliation or defamation, exclusion or discrimination, being forced to perform duties outside their job scope, or receiving unfair instructions.
