Zimbabwe: Bikita lithium mine alleged of land rights violations and shortfalls in impact assessment; cos did not respond

In a news report published on 10 May 2025, the Bikita Lithium Mine is accused of forcibly displacing rural communities through land seizures carried out without consultation, compensation, or publicly available environmental impact assessments. The violations were linked with developments reportedly occurred starting around 2022, affecting dozens of families initially and contributing to the reclassification of over 3,200 hectares of land.

The Business and Human Rights Centre had reached out to Bikita Minerals, the developer of the Bikita mine, for comment. They did not respond.
