Mov. dos Pescadores de Cassurubá fishermen have denounced the company Fibria S.A., for their role in the alleged dredging of the Tomba canal in order to transport eucalyptus to Aracruz, in Espirito Santo. The fishermen said that the dredging has caused serious environmental damage which is detrimental to their livelihoods. Some fishermen are allegedly being prosecuted by Fibria S.A. for telling a local media source about environmental irregularities in the area. Fibria S.A.'s response is available.
