On 18 April, police detained Alyaksandr Kabanau, an activist, who opposes the construction of a battery plant near Brest. The activist was charged with participation in an unauthorized mass event (art. 23.34 part 1 and art. 23.34 part 3 of the Administrative Code) and sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest. For over two years, local residents have been protesting against the construction of the battery plant over health and environmental concerns.
