Nobody forces companies to purchase minerals or metals mined in war zones…a key message to companies…is that if they choose to use metals originating from eastern DRC they have a responsibility to demonstrate – by doing due diligence – that their activities are not causing harm…Where companies undertaking due diligence encounter obstacles, for example in gaining safe access to certain mine sites, this is a signal that they need to change their sourcing practices, not that doing due diligence is too difficult.
