African trade unions say they will pressure businesses operating within the continent to pay their fair share of tax

'Illicit Financial Flow: African Labour Unions to Pressure Big Businesses', 28 Jul 2015: [African] Labour unions…have said that they will…put more pressure on big companies and businesses operating within the continent to pay their fair and true share of tax to governments of their respective countries of operation…[At] the meeting of the African Regional International Trade Union Confederation ITUC-Africa Annual Human and Trade Union Network in Abuja, the unions stated that in the wake of the [African Union’s] adoption of the Thabo Mbeki panel report on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa…which shows that a conservative figure of $50 billion leaves the continent annually, they will put up sustained pressure on both governments of African countries and businesses to end the…financial haemorrhage…[that] harm[s] our economies and [detracts from]…monies for social spending on education, potable water, health and sanitation, food and nutrition that are real drivers of development…"…
