Air India, delisted by the Global Compact in January 2008, makes a remarkable comeback
The Global Compact Office announced today that a total of 630 companies have been removed from its list of participants for failure to communicate progress...Despite th[is]...[d]uring the first half of 2008, 701 new companies have joined the UN Global Compact, increasing the total number of business participants to 4619...there are only a few well-known companies among the delisted participants, such as Agencia EFE...Groupe Fiat...and Editora Globo...Air India, which was among the delisted companies in January 2008, has made a remarkable comeback...All a delisted company has to do is to reapply to join the Global Compact. The application must be accompanied by a Communication on Progress. This is probably what Air India has done.
