The Asian Development Bank...has partnered with two private companies in Papua New Guinea to improve HIV/AIDS treatment, primary health care and prevention facilities in the country…The companies are Ramu Sugar [now Ramu Agro-Industries] and Highlands Kainantu [part of Highlands Pacific]. Higaturu Oil Palms, Oil Search and Porgera Joint Venture [jointly owned by Barrick Gold, Emperor Gold Mines, Mineral Resources Enga] already are involved in the project…[The] program focuses on rural communities…considered to be high-risk for the spread of HIV, including plantations, mines and fishing companies…
