Australian-listed mining giant ignores threat to Filipinos' lives

A new report...by international aid and development agency, Oxfam Community Aid Abroad (Oxfam Australia), details Marcopper mine's devastating impact on the communities and environment of Marinduque. It says that Placer Dome, co-owner of Marcopper until the mine's closure, has turned its back on the Island's people, failing to complete an environmental clean-up, adequately compensate affected communities or take steps to prevent future disasters.
