Bahrain: Over 200 workplace accidents, including 12 deaths, documented in 2018

"216 worksite accidents recorded this year, 'most involve illegal workers'", 25 August 2018

A total of 216 worksite accidents were recorded in the first seven months this year in Bahrain. These included 12 fatalities.According to Labour and Social Development Ministry statistics, there were a total of 388 worksite accidents for the whole of 2017... “Most of these cases were reported from construction sites, with lack of safety as the main reason. “The cases involve small companies, as most of the medium and bigger companies are well aware of the safety standards and abide by them”... [M]ost of the cases involved illegal workers... The GDN reported earlier this year that there was a 14pc increase in the number of worksite accidents in Bahrain last year compared with 2016 – from 341 in 2016 to 388 last year, according Labour and Social Development Ministry figures...
