Big business comes under fire at European Social Forum

Oronto Douglas, an environmental and human rights lawyer from Nigeria...said Friday that [big companies] dictated their terms for local and national governments worldwide, as well as global institutions such as the United Nations, without considering the impact on local communities. He said the oil-rich Niger Delta in Nigeria lacked electricity and proper drinking water, even though it produced energy for the rest of the world.
