Buying With a Conscience Helps Reform SA [So. African] Vineyards

Two years ago a group of UK retailers...pledged finance to help set up SA's Wine Industry Ethical Trade Association. The retailers included Coop [Co-operative Group], Tesco, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, Asda [part of Wal-Mart], Safeway [part of Morrisons], Somerfield and Waitrose [part of John Lewis Partnership]...The association's code covers issues such as the prohibition of child labour; the establishment of a healthy and safe working environment; the right to collective bargaining and freedom from discrimination. [also refers to Traidcraft, Cilmore Winery, Citrusdal Cellars, Nederburg, Stellar Organics]
