Cairn Energy in India: Turning on the water works?

Cairn may have to inject increased amounts of water into their wells to boost production of the recoverable oil [in Rajasthan, India]. This is a common practice in the industry, but is a tricky issue in desert communities that often suffer from serious shortage of the stuff for much of each year. Cairn says it has also found an underground salt water source and may build a desalination plant to provide fresh water for the locals. [also refers to Shell, Coca-Cola, Bradford & Bingley]
