Action alert: Demand human rights-consistent tax policies

The tax structure and the level of revenue collection on the one hand, and budget allocations and expenditure on the other, influence the ability of States to fulfill their human rights obligations and tackle discrimination and structural inequalities. The United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, is preparing to submit a report concerning fiscal and tax policy, poverty and human rights (to be presented at the 26th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, June 2014)...There are many ways you can contribute to the design and impact of this report: Respond the questionnaire...Help ensure your government responds to the questionnaire...Organize a consultation on tax policy and human rights...Submit materials you have produced that address tax policy and human rights...
