Cambodia: Garment workers sue factory for injuries sustained by colleagues during strike for higher wage

"Striking garment workers to sue factory", 26 September 2017

Over 500 garment workers of Solamoda Garment factory at Shwe Than Lwin industrial Zone who went on strike demanding higher wages…are now suing the company, after five of their colleagues sustained injuries during a scuffle with security guards.

A scuffle took place between the workers and the guards when the protestors prevented factory officials from transporting the goods out of the premises. 

“We don’t want them to carry their goods out of the factory while we are asking for our demands….” Ma Su Nandar Myo said.

The workers are demanding additional K1000 to their daily wages since they are facing difficulties to cope with rising living costs….

…Factory manager Ko Nyi Nyi Naing said they are preparing to take action against the workers for blocking the factory’s entrance….
