"Project to empower women launched", 9 February 2020

Transparency International Cambodia (TI Cambodia) and ActionAid Cambodia have joined hands with the Ministry of Interior to launch a three-year employment project aimed at empowering young women to be in decision-making positions to provide better public services.

The project was launched … at the Ministry of Interior. TI Cambodia said the three-year project is being funded by the European Union and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

TI Cambodia programme manager Im Norin said the project would enable young women to set up mechanisms to exchange views and find solutions to strengthen public services with more accountability to meet the people’s needs.

“The new project is to expand the scope and continue the implementation of the governance school project 2016-2019…

Ministry of Interior secretary of state Ngy Chanphal, also director of the School Governance Project Management, said the project would help the government with deep reforms.

He noted it would aid the government’s de-centralisation reforms and strengthen development at the sub-nation level…

TI Cambodia said the project would provide services to target groups in Chamkarmon district in Phnom Penh; Siem Reap town in Siem Reap province; Stung Sen town in Kampong Thom province; Krakor district and Pursat town in Pursat province; Chhouk district and Kampot town in Kampot province, and some districts in Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, Prey Veng and Koh Kong provinces.
