Campaigns & Communications Assistant

International Labor Rights Forum

The International Labor Rights Forum is a human rights organization that advocates for workers globally. We hold global corporations accountable for labor rights violations in their supply chains; we advance policies and laws that protect workers; and we strengthen workers’ ability to advocate for their rights. The Campaigns & Communications Assistant position will require experience with outreach and mobilizing for campaigns; enthusiasm to travel frequently; excellent writing skills; knowledge about international labor rights issues with a strong feminist analysis; and persuasive speaking skills to audiences of all sizes. An ideal candidate has been active in anti-sweatshop or other economic justice campaigning and is an independent, innovative and driven individual.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write content for ILRF’s website, blog, and social media pages, and draft campaign and outreach materials, letters, press releases, action alerts, and other communications
  • Research to help support and develop multiple campaigns housed at ILRF, in particular developing our new campaign for women workers’ rights
  • Outreach and travel, mostly within the United States, to promote and expand ILRF’s campaigns; build a broader activist network with unions, faith-based organizations, NGOs, and other allies; and deepen relationships with supporters by representing the organization publicly at speaking events, conferences, coalition meetings, and actions
  • Design, plan and implement a range of campaign activities, including organizing demonstrations, press conferences, workshops, and other events
  • Update ILRF’s website and maintain a consistent social media presence to support ILRF campaigns, as well as actions from allies and coalition partners
  • Assist in the writing, design and dissemination of public reports
  • Assist in the organization’s fundraising activities
  • Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of ILRF’s CRM system and website

Required Qualifications:

  • At least two years campus-based or community organizing experience developing, implementing and running corporate-focused or legislative campaigns on labor, economic justice or other social justice issues
  • Interest and availability to travel extensively within the United States, and also available for occasional travel abroad
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Tech-savvy and proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Experience using social media
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple work streams
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish, Bangla, Thai or other foreign languages
  • Experience with CRM systems (i.e. NeonCRM, Blackbaud, GetActive, ActionNetwork, or SALSA) and social media organizational tools such as Hootsuite
  • Graphic design skills and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency with Drupal
  • Experience in organizing demonstrations, creative actions, and educational events
  • Experience as a trainer, workshop leader, and public speaker
