Campaigns/Programme Officer at ShareAction

ShareAction is a ground breaking charity which, since its inception in 2005, has been successfully harnessing the shareholder power of major investors in order to change business practices to truly benefit savers, society and the environment. We are now looking for an enthusiastic new officer to join our growing Campaigns Team.

Key Tasks

You will be helping to develop and deliver a range of ShareAction campaigns.

This will include:

  • Managing complex campaigns with multiple stakeholders and challenging deliverables
  • Developing a working knowledge of environmental, social and corporate governance issues on which ShareAction campaigns, to highlight risk for investors and savers.
  • Researching and writing high-quality briefings for use with a variety of audiences, including investors and investee companies.
  • Using this knowledge to help develop and deliver tactical campaigning action to mobilise the public around ShareAction campaigns.
  • Supporting the building of relationships with key people in the investment industry and within companies, to achieve objectives set out in ShareAction campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with civil society organisations.
  • Administration relevant to the campaigns
  • Event organization

Person Specification



  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex campaigns or projects
  • Experience or understanding of capital markets campaigning
  • Experience of engaging, communicating with and mobilising a variety of audiences from civil society and the private sector.
  • Experience of developing and delivering upon campaign strategy
  • Evidence of experience in making change happen – ideally using both online and real world tactics.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to deliver compelling presentations and interact with the media.
  • Ability to get to grips with a new and complex subject areas quickly.
  • Ability to learn and understand complex material and subject areas quickly, particularly the language of the financial sector.
  • Ability to meet continuous short-term deadlines whilst keeping long-term goals on track.
  • Experience of engaging, communicating with and mobilising a variety of audiences from civil society and the private sector.
  • Experience of developing and delivering upon campaign strategies.
  • MS Office competent.
  • Ability to work closely with all members of a small, fast-paced team.


  • People management experience, either as line manager or project manager
  • Understanding of (or experience working within) the investment industry
  • Fundraising or business development experience

Further Details

Hours of work: 35 hrs per week with an expectation of some out of hours working

Holidays: 25 days per annum plus working days between Christmas and New Year, plus bank holidays.
