Cerrejón Statement

Cerrejón respects freedom of association as recognized by the 14 Collective Bargaining Agreements achieved together by the Sintracarbón union, our requirements to the Cerrejón’s contractors, and the absence of criticism to the company´s respect to this employee right. We are currently facing a strike called by the Union, which we consider to be unjustified and harmful to worker´s interests. However, we respect the Union´s right to call a strike as long as it is carried out peacefully and respectfully…Cerrejón rejects and condemns the telephone threats that the family members of some union leaders received as well as themselves…we have requested Government authorities to take all the security measures required and we have provided temporary means to facilitate Igor Diaz´s protection…
