[Unofficial translation of title and text from original Chinese provided by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre.]...A local private security company in Zambia was in charge of the security work...[A]n on-duty guard from the security company found someone stealing supplies. The guard fired toward the sky to try to stop the theft attempt, but could not. After this, the employee suspected of stealing was hit by a gunshot. The employee died at hospital after rescue...We feel sorry for the incident. There was only one person who was involved and died, instead of two people as mentioned in the report...[T]he company...will continue to implement, a number of important initiatives to focus on improving workplace communications and working conditions...
