Chinese companies on climate change

Chinese companies haven’t realized the opportunities of disclosing information about carbon emissions. Chinese companies are cautious about the public release of information; they are afraid of releasing data and private information to ‘strangers’. This is especially true in state-owned-enterprises where managers see information distribution as a risk...However, with risk comes opportunity. Joining the global CDP will contribute to the reputation of a company as a responsible global citizen, which will in turn attract positive international attention from investors and other stakeholders...The good news is that the awareness of Chinese companies on climate change is growing gradually. The Climate Group has revealed that three Chinese enterprises have become new members: China Mobile, Broad Air Conditioning and Suntech Power.
