Clarification concerning execution of Lom Pangar Dam construction contract in observation report on respect of human rights on sites of major projects in Cameroon

There is no difference between nationalities. No matter Chinese or Cameroonian…are company’s staffs and moreover have contracts of employment, so Cameroonian laws and regulations shall be followed…The main purpose of arranging soldiers, security personnel and military police is to assure the safety of the necessary facilities, equipment and personnel…the Project Department has always followed the requirements of labor laws of Cameroon, signing a labor contract with each worker…The workers of CWE…all can receive the diagnosis and treatment by doctors with medical qualifications…Medical treatment of work-related injury is all for free. Cameroonianworkers also have no need to pay for theirs...As for the social and environmental problems listed in the observation report concerning the performance of the construction contract for the dam at Lom Pangar by CWE, CWE has made clarifications, and all contents clarified have been confirmed at the site. The interviewees of the report don’t include CWE’s management personnel and related the report has its own one-sidedness.
