A Sri Lankan business chamber said it plans to start an awareness programme to minimise pollution..."Industrial pollution is causing lot of damage to the environment in urban and rural areas," the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) said...The five pilot projects cover enterprises in the agricultural farm and seed paddy sector, desiccated coconut and lime production, rice milling...The pilot projects are selected from areas where there are large numbers of units of the particular industry...In the case of [fuel] service stations there is water pollution, the FCCISL...said...Agricultural farm and seed paddy..."...appear to be not operated in an environmentally friendly manner causing a threat to hygienic conditions as well as pollution," the FCCISL said.
