Colombia to prohibit mining in mineral-rich northern area

[A natural park]…proposed by the environmental authority of Santander is in the vicinity where Canada's Eco Oro Minerals has been working, along with AUX (which has just entered into a deal with Galway and has previously taken over Ventana Gold), CB Gold (referred to here by its local subsidiary name, Leyhat), Auro Resources, Calvista Gold, and Continental Gold….[For this reason] local defence committees don't believe the existence of park will prevent mining in the area, whether by Eco Oro or others… Because of this, they are calling, once again, for a process of social mobilization… Eco Oro president and CEO Joao Carrelo said in a statement… that…the company would be able to assess the impact of the park on the company's assets and business…
