Coop Danmark's response

Coop Danmark is currently in the process of mapping our entire supply chain on canned tomatoes from Italy down to farm level in order to address the problems concerning illegal hiring of migrant workers in Italy. Also Coop Danmark is participating in a project managed by the Norwegian Initiative for Ethical Trade, which is a multi stakeholder project aiming to engage local unions and trade organizations in Italy in understanding implications and improving the current situation." Generally speaking, Coop Denmark is convinced the staying away is not a solution to theissue. Our investments, therefore, have to contribute to better conditions in the supply chain.” - Ulla Riber, Head of CSR for Coop Denmark. Coop Danmark emphasizes that our suppliers have the responsibility of ensuring proper working condition, and the suppliers agree to such by signing the trade contract.
