In response to complaints about thick smoke belching from cruise ships into Alaska's sky, cruise ship companies [Crystal Cruises, Princess Cruises, World Explorer, Holland America, Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line] have agreed to pay penalties to the state and clean up their air emissions, environmental officials said last week.
