Customs Complaint on Forced Child Labor in Cocoa Production in Cote D'Ivoire

On May 30, 2002 the International Labor Rights Fund filed a petition with the US Customs Service on May 30, demanding enforcement of laws prohibiting the importation of goods made with forced child labor. The petition focused on the existence of child slavery in the production of cocoa from Cote D'Ivoire, used in the manufacture of chocolate in the United States.
