Death toll from mining accident in China rises to 35

The death toll from a mining explosion in north China has risen to 35, while 12 people remained trapped underground...said the State Administration of Work Safety...The gas explosion ripped through the state-owned Jiaojiazhai coal mine, which belongs to the Datong Coal Mine Group, in Shanxi province...killed 17 miners on the spot...Mine operators failed to follow regulations and evacuate the mine after a power outage on that day, which then led to the shutdown of the mine's ventilation system and the accumulation of deadly gases, Xinhua news agency said earlier.
