Deputy Director at Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business seeks to provide an effective and legitimate platform for the creation of knowledge, capacity and dialogue concerning responsible business in Myanmar, based on local needs and international standards intended to result in more responsible business practices.

MCRB is seeking to fill a new position of Deputy Director which has been created to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the Centre. The role will have a particular focus on supporting management of the Centre’s programme, and engagement with businesses, particularly Asian and other international companies.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

 Working with the Director and other team members to develop and implement MCRB’s next 3-year strategy to maintain its reputation as a centre of expertise and excellence on responsible business in Myanmar

 Engaging with and briefing Myanmar and foreign businesses individually and collectively on how to do business responsibly in Myanmar, and linking them to other stakeholders

 Engaging with local and international civil society organisations and NGOs, including those based internationally

 Delivering elements of the Centre’s capacity-building activities with business, government and civil society and contributing as a resource person to activities by other organisations with whom the Centre partners formally and informally

 Managing 1 or 2 staff directly and at least 5 indirectly

 Leading the monitoring and evaluation of the Centre’s work and reporting to donors on its activities, achievements and impacts, as well as lessons learnt

 Managing the Office Manager and liaising with MCRB’s UK based accountant and IHRB’s Operational Manager on the budget and other financial issues, helping to ensure the sound financial management and integrity of the Centre’s operations

 Contributing to, and supporting MCRB’s fundraising strategy and the diversification of its funding base including the development and management of project proposals

 Contributing to the Centre’s publications, and communicating these and other Centre activities to a variety of audiences

 Keeping up to date with developments in business and human rights, and communicating these to team members and other stakeholders

Salary: Salary will reflect experience, and be competitive with senior-level professionals in international NGOs in Myanmar.

Contract: Full time; one year fixed term (renewable, subject to funding)
