Developing the Scottish Human Rights Agenda: Compliance, good practice and legal challenge [UK]

A broad range of civil society organisations are focusing on human rights including The Human Rights Consortium Scotland, various private law firms with human rights cases, the commitment of 296 private companies that have a human rights statement in company policy such as Aberdeen Asset Management, academic developments such as the course run by GCU in conjunction with SCVO and the work of National Human Rights Institutions in Scotland...In practical terms the need to comply with the detail and spirit of human rights will present a significant challenge for those organisations which do not understand how legislation and case law is driving change in policy, practice and service delivery...[Session 3 of the conference focuses on the Role of the Voluntary and Private Sectors and includes themes such as Business & Human Rights, Learning lessons from ‘Do the Right Thing’, Challenges for staff, and Asserting rights. The full agenda will be published shortly.]
