Value Added in Africa (VAA) wishes to employ a Director to lead and develop the organisation’s work to achieve scale in the next phase of its growth.

The Organisation

The mission of VAA is to create an international marketplace for African-made retail-ready products. We link African SME’s and European retailers. We focus on goods that create skilled employment for workers and generate and capture more of the value in Africa. We have built up a wide network of African producers who with our range of supports benefit through €1.5 million per year of export market exposure.

The Role

Reporting to the Board, the role of the Director is to lead VAA’s trade facilitation work; attract additional resources; plan strategically and build and give direction to the small team, so that the organisation can achieve scale in its impact.

The Person

The Director will have the ability to lead the strategic development of the organisation in its dual commercial and development contexts. The successful candidate will be a strategic influencer who has substantial experience of leadership in a brand development, strategic marketing or commercial buyer role – preferably in a FMCG category related to foods or garments. They will also show evidence of prior commitment and involvement in development issues.
